Lok Sabha Election 2019: With the ongoing voting count, Narendra Modi-led BJP & alliance is leading the vote count in 300 of the 542 LS seats available. It is the indication of India’s most influencing and polarizing person to re-elect again, suggesting a larger majority than the Lok Sabha Election 2014.
Prior announcement of the winner, the supporters of Bhartiya Janta Party started celebrating in New Delhi as the vote count increased on Thursday. Recently, Narendra Modi tweeted: सबका साथ + सबका विकास + सबका विश्वास = विजयी भारत
Together we grow.
Together we prosper.
Together we will build a strong and inclusive India.
When the election hasn’t happened, most analysts and economist believed that the Modi will not re-elect for PM again. It is because of dissatisfaction with the economy. But, that was only before tensions with Pakistan handed Mr. Modi an issue he could command. Later, he campaigned heavily on national security and foreign policy, and now the message is clear among 900 million registered voters that
Who they want to see them lead again?
However, the victory of BJP party putting fear in the hearts of Indian Muslims who are expecting to see a historic low in their running Muslim candidates list after the results of Lok Sabha Election 2019. They fear that the re-electing of Modi again will disempower them.
Why Muslims are worried over Modi’s Victory?
Some Indian Muslims believe that “As Mr. Modi and his Hindu nationalist supporters rose to power, the violence against them has risen.”
Uttar Pradesh which is the country’s largest state and home to 43 million Muslims chose the BJP’s non-Muslim candidate to lead them. The BJP’s Yogi Adityanath, a Hindu nationalist who has been accused of organizing religious riots, led the party in Uttar Pradesh. Even in 2014, the BJP won 71 out of the 80 seats allotted to the state.
On this, a 33 old student of Aligarh Muslim University, Aftab Syed said that “The very idea of keeping Muslims out of Parliament means you want to disempower them.”
But, Lok Sabha Election results are not what triggered the Muslims. Even before that many Muslims expressed concerns that the government does not speak out against expressions of anti-Muslim bigotry. Furthermore, human rights found a large no. of attacks against Muslims accused of eating cows or killing cows – considered sacred in the Hindu religion.
Some Muslims believe that if Modi again comes to power we’re doomed. They also believe that if the Modi returns to power, they will put their long pending agenda into action.
Not just Muslims but also the BSP-SP who are worried over BJP’s victory in UP state. The alliance that was formed in January this year has claimed to throw BJP from Uttar Pradesh. However, the alliance couldn’t succeed to win 20 seats. But, when the BJP’s Yogi Adityanath come in the contest, he dissolved the caste lines with his aggressive Hindutva campaign.
The result not only put the question mark on future alliance but also on the caste-based vote systems.
