Supreme Court has brought down the curtains on the ‘Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid’ issue – one of the longest-running disputes in India. As per Supreme Court verdict, the 2.77 acres of entire disputed land has given to the Hindu parties and trust will be formed by the centre within 3 months that will monitor the construction of the Ram temple. On the other hand, the Sunni Waqf Board will be given 5 acres of alternate land within Ayodhya.
The verdict came after the 9 years of Allahabad High Court judgement wherein the Supreme Court has scrapped the high court ruling by giving the disputed land to Hindus and rejecting the claims of Waqf Board and Nirmohi akhara.
Shortly after the verdict from Supreme Court, the opposition party Congress declared it was in favour of building a Ram Temple. On this Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala claimed, “Supreme Court decision cannot be a matter of credit or discredit to any individual, group, communities, or political parties.”
For the Supreme Court verdict, several Whatsapp groups on Saturday went on ‘admin only’ mode with users of the messaging app taking precautions amid reports that security agencies were keeping an eye on the social media.
