The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty50 index which opened on a positive note at previous trading session closed 421.10 points higher at 11,828.25 as Exit Polls suggested a clear majority for BJP led NDA government.
During the trading session, it touched an intraday high of 11,845.0. With this the Nifty posted the biggest single-session gain since 2009.
On the other hand, the BSE-Sensex ended the day with gains of 1,421.90 points. All the sectoral indices ended in green led by PSU banks, infra, auto, energy, FMCG, metal, and pharma.
Rupee Update: The Indian rupee appreciated by 49 paise made it the biggest single-day gain in the two months.
Taking cues from previous trading session and election concerns, it is expected to see a flat opening in today’s session.
