The NSE 50-share benchmark index which opened flattish at previous trade near 10,792.45 closed on a lower note at 10661.55, 119 points or 1.10 percent down.
It lost more than a percent as traders turned cautious ahead of January derivative contracts’ expiry and election budget later this week. As a result the index continued to form a large bearish candle on the daily candlestick charts.
However the Bank Nifty was 462.25 points down while Midcap and smallcap were 2.1 and 1.8 percent down respectively.
Taking cues from previous trade and global sentiment it is expected to see a negative opening in today's trading session.
