The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty50 index which opened at 11,727.95 at previous trading session closed at 11,737.90, 28.80 points up. The market closed a volatile session marginally higher on May 22, the day before the Lok Sabha election 2019 results on May 23.
Traders turned cautious following fresh record highs on indices on Monday after exit polls indicated ruling party may get a second term. Now that the country begins counting hundreds of millions of votes in its general election on Thursday with a coalition led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party already preparing to form the next government.
Taking cues from the previous trading session, it is expected to see wild swings on either direction as per the scheduled result updates on May 23.
