As expected the National Stock Exchange benchmark index Nifty opened on a flat note at the level of 10,930.90 from its previous closing level of 10,930.45. However, just after the opening, it starts plunging and trading below 10,900-mark near 10,882.05 (09:20 AM IST).
It is the weak start to the month on the market where Nifty is trading below 11,000 and Sensex is down almost 100 points.
The top gainers among Nifty 50 are GAIL India, Infosys, Infratel, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India, however, the top losers are Kotak Bank, Yes bank, Ultratech Cement, and IndusInd Bank etc.
Update: Based on an assessment of the durable liquidity needs going forward and the seasonal growth in currency in circulation observed in the build-up to the festive season, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to conduct the purchase of Government securities under OMOs for an aggregate amount of Rs 360 billion in the amount of October 2018.
