NIFTY which closed sharply lower in Thursday’s trading session opened on a positive note at the level of 11,297.80 from its previous closing level of 11,244.70. After its opening, it starts surging and touched the 11,300-mark and touched a high of 11,319.35.
After a weak two sessions, equity benchmarks on Friday morning have started the day on a good note. The market breadth is positive as 451 shares advanced, against a decline of 96 shares, while 41 shares are unchanged.
Among the top gainers on NIFTY50 are Dr. Reddy, Kotak Bank, GAIL, and HDFC, however, the top losers are Hindustan Petroleum, Grasim, BPCL, and Tech Mahindra. All sectoral indices are trading in the green with a gain in pharma, metals, energy, and auto names, while midcaps have seen a strong start as well. The Nifty Midcap index is up over 0.6 percent.
Update: The Indian Rupee opened flat at 68.69 per dollar on Friday versus 68.70 yesterday.
