The BSE-Sensex which opened on a flat note at the level of 34,971.83 from its previous closing level of 34,733.58 is now trading lower at 34,719.05. (02:02 PM IST)
Not just Sensex but the Nifty benchmark was also in the red as the IIP slipped to a three-month low in August and retail inflation rose marginally in September. During the trading session, over 90 stocks hit 52-week lows on BSE including Ashapura Intimates Fashion, Kiran Vyapar, Amrit Corp, Raw Edge Industrial Solutions, Anjani Portland Cement, Loyal Textile Mills, Arihant Foundations & Housing, Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Bhatia Communications & Retail (India), Capital Trust, Tara Jewels and Veritas among others.
The reason behind the lows in various stocks in the domestic market are weak Asian peers, rupee’s fall, and an uptick in global crude oil prices weighed on market sentiment.
