Today, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index opened on a positive note at the level of 11,271.30 from its previous closing level of 11,234.35. But, it lost all its early gains in the afternoon session and fall below the 11,000-mark.
A sharp sell-off in banks along with sectoral indices such as FMCG, pharma, automobiles, as well as a selloff in midcaps has dragged the equity markets.
The rupee was back at 72 per US dollar mark and has depreciated almost half a per cent. There were wild swings has seen in the market which has been in some recovery after management of DHFL and Indiabulls Housing tried to allay investor fears.
During its trading session, over 150 stocks including Jet Airways, JK Tyre & Industries, Rolta India, Yes Bank, AGC Networks, Byke Hospitality, Career Points, D B Realty, and BEL, hit 52-week lows on NSE.
Apart from this, Ducon Infratechnologies, Gateway Distriparks, Godrej Properties, GTPL Hathway, IL&FS Investment Managers also hit the 52-week lows.
