The U.S stock index futures opened flat on Thursday ahead of the jobless claims data, which is scheduled to be released today.
Dow Jones plunged to 24,954.48. The Nasdaq futures opened marginally higher at 7208.17. The futures for the Standard & Poor's 500 index were down at 2680.38.
Besides the jobless claims data, an employment cost index and Chicago PMI data are also due to be released today. The investors are also tracking the meeting between the U.S and China trade officials, which are taking place in the Washington to end trade war.
